What to do?

You're excited, but worried, excessively tired, your breasts hurt, and your appetite is nonexistant. You've done a pregnancy test or gone to your doctor and learned that you are pregnant. You are elated but very, very anxious. Now you need to know that everything is really OK.

Begin with a thorough ultrasound at a facility that is specialized in fetal imaging. Your doctor can refer you to a clinic that has high performance equipment and where the examination is conducted by another physician.

Most pregnancies are 'normal', but that does not mean that any examination that is performed should not seek to be as thorough as possible.

There is a lot of to be learned early in pregnancy. If anything cannot be seen well, it is usually easy enough to wait a little and look again..

You can talk about prenatal testing with the physician doing the ultrasound after the exam in light of findings, family history and risk factors, and your personal preferences.

Greetings from Dr B
